Jess & Eric Hawthorne’s Story
When someone in your family is unwell or in pain, it’s hard for everyone. But when everyone is well and flourishing, the whole house buzzes with energy.
You received a letter from our mom, Nicole, a few weeks ago. Did you get a chance to read about her health care journey at Richmond Hospital?
We are Jess and Eric Hawthorne. We were both born at Richmond Hospital and raised in Richmond. This is our family’s community – and a place that brings care and compassion to families near and far!
You may recall our mom, Nicole sharing that over the past 20+ years she’s had her fair share of surgeries. She’s had two caesarean births, a colon resection, and two knee replacement surgeries. Her most recent knee replacement was just a year ago.
We’re writing this letter to thank you for your support of Richmond Hospital. Your generosity keeps this hospital going strong. You help people like our mom heal – and feel better.
Will you make a kind gift today? Whichever amount you choose to give, you’ll help Richmond Hospital continue to provide excellent care to families in our community. Families just like ours.

We’ve seen such heartening change in mom over the past couple of years. In fact, she’s running again – and is so happy to be able to move without pain. Every time she comes back from a run, she excitedly tells us about how far she ran, her pace and how she felt!
Mom also loves giving back to the hospital as a volunteer with the Richmond Hospital Foundation. It feels great to know that she’s enjoying life and engaging in activities once again.
Kind and compassionate people like you, who give from your heart in support of Richmond Hospital Foundation, helped our mom – and our family – get so much healthier. The hospital depends on donations from the community to help fund the newest equipment and technology they need to provide the very best care to people like our mom.
We’re so thankful to you – for your past generosity, and for any gift you can make today.
You can feel confident knowing we have a great hospital you can depend on for your health care needs. One of the things we remember most is how much Mom would talk about the doctors and nurses, who went out of their way to make her feel comfortable and encouraged. A core memory? Being cheered on by staff as she took her first steps with a walker down the hall after knee surgery!
Please send a compassionate gift to support health care for patients and families who rely on it.
Yours for healthy families,
Jess & Eric Hawthorne,
Grateful daughter and son
