Pacific Chinese Cultural Society POWERs UP the Future of Health Care with a $20,000 Donation

Richmond, BC – Rooted in the belief that quality health and hospital care are essential to a prosperous community, Pacific Chinese Cultural Society has donated $20,000 towards the Richmond Hospital Foundation POWER UP Campaign.

The gift was a collective effort by Pacific Chinese Cultural Society members, raised through several events throughout the year including a Christmas party and barbeque in the park. Established in 1993, with over 200 members across Metro Vancouver, the society recognizes that health care in Richmond is at a pivotal moment with the development of the Yurkovich Family Pavilion, the new acute care tower at Richmond Hospital.

“We have seen firsthand how Richmond’s growing population is driving increased medical needs,” shares Wesley Liang, President of the Pacific Chinese Cultural Society. “Some of our members, as well as their friends and family, have relied on Richmond Hospital for medical attention and care. That’s why it is important for us to make sure the hospital continues to be properly supported and that the new acute care tower will have the capacity to meet this rising demand.”

This donation represents another generous contribution from the society towards the Yurkovich Family Pavilion, building on their previous support of the Medical Imaging Centre Campaign in 2024.

“We are so grateful for caring, community-minded individuals like members of the Pacific Chinese Cultural Society who continue to give back in meaningful and impactful ways,” says Spencer Gall, Chief Philanthropy Officer of Richmond Hospital Foundation. “Their generosity will benefit both patients and families. We thank them for rallying others in their network and igniting a spirit of philanthropy in the community.”

The POWER UP Campaign will help enable the health care team to provide better care for patients by bringing technological efficiencies and advancements to the Emergency Department, Operating Rooms and other health care departments when the new Yurkovich Family Pavilion opens.
